We at The Lyme Nursery proudly feel that our mission statement "Invest in the Best" reflects the excellent reputation bestowed by our customers, Ofsted inspections and Investors in People. We work with you, the parents, to ensure every child in our care receives the right emotional, social and educational stability.
Established in 1934, The Lyme Nursery is a flagship of private day care and early years learning provision. The proprietor, Richard Vernon, is a retired school teacher of 25 years experience having been Head of Department at one of Staffordshire's largest high schools.
The Nursery is situated in a mature setting in beautiful Victorian surroundings. Our extensive outdoor play area, to the rear of the building is approximately 600m2 which includes lawned areas, a purpose built children's maze and safe-surface play area.
The Lyme Nursery will support your needs whether you are returning to work after maternity leave or requiring sociability skills for your baby/child. It is important that you feel confident and have the peace of mind that you have made the best choice for your family.
We offer FREE Government funded places for 2*, 3 and 4 years olds.
We offer FREE taster sessions for all children once a place has been booked.
We offer FREE dance lessons with a professional dance teacher.
The Lyme Nursery will support you to have a healthy child. We pride ourselves on providing a variety of nutritious home cooked meals that use seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables. Our menus have been awarded the Healthy Eating Award by the NHS which gives our customers confidence in our commitment to keeping children healthy. Our daily fee includes all milk, breakfast (cereal and toast), lunch/dessert and afternoon snacks/selection of fresh fruit.
The safeguarding of children in our care is fundamental. We DO NOT publish the faces of our children's photo's on social networking sites (faces are hidden); the use of mobile phones is not allowed on the premises (staff and parents) and we operate a manned-door policy whereby only a member of staff physically opens and closes the entrance door.

“My son has been at The Lyme Nursery for just over a year, he started when he was 9 months old and is now in the Toddler room! From day one he has loved nursery and I have felt truly lucky to be able to go to work every day knowing he is happy, safe and always doing lots of fun and exciting things! He has made lots of friends and really adores the staff. Now we have some better weather he is really enjoying the huge garden and the
outside water play!”
What else do we offer?
Termly Development Packs/Progress Reports
Each school term (Spring, Summer and Autumn) we prepare a tailored Development Pack for each child which covers the EYFS curriculum. The pack outlines your child's progress at nursery. Our staff observe your child regularly within the nursery environment to help plan an exciting and appropriate range of experiences to enhance their abilities.
Twice a year we invite parents along to The Lyme Nursery between 7pm and 9pm to have an informal chat with their child's key worker and other members of staff. It's an ideal time to sit down, look through your child's personal Nursery Folder and ask any questions that you never have time to ask when dropping off or collecting. We also issue a Customer Quality of Service Questionnaire designed for parents to give feedback to the Nursery in order to maintain an excellent quality of service.
